District 7-2A Division I: Week 11 Report

San Saba 62, De Leon 12 — San Saba completed a 10-0 regular season and the district title by amassing 466 yards in Friday’s win over De Leon.

The Armadillos pounded out 302 rushing yards by night’s end and forced a staggering seven De Leon turnovers.  A 34-0 second quarter put SSHS up 48-12 at the break, all but putting the game out of reach.

San Saba (10-0) will take on Italy (4-5) in the bi-district round on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Copperas Cove.  The Armadillos were led by Eli Salinas, who rushed for 134 yards and three scores.

De Leon (6-4) was led by Kevin Yeager, with 184 yards passing. DHS will begin postseason play with Axtell (6-4) on Thursday in Joshua at 7 p.m.

Crawford 14, Hico 10 — Hico had retained some playoff hopes heading into this contest and nearly earned an 11th game. But a Crawford ground attack that accumulated more than 250 yards proved to be their undoing.

Crawford will open postseason play against Riesel (8-2) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Gatesville.

Hico closed its season at 3-7 and 1-4.

Valley Mills 55, Goldthwaite 14 — It was the Spencer Eccleston show in this Friday matchup, with the Valley Mills running back quickly racking up 350 yards on only 13 carries and scoring five times.

Valley Mills finished with 502 total yards while limiting Goldthwaite to only 188. VMHS (5-5, 2-3) will open postseason play against Bosqueville (7-3) on Friday at McGregor.

Goldthwaite closed its season at 1-9 overall and 0-5 in league play.
