District 7-2A Division I: Week 10 Report

De Leon 77, Goldthwaite 7 — De Leon had an easy time of it on Friday, piling up 639 total yards, including 322 yards passing and four scores from Kevin Yeager

Toby Garrison was the top ground-gainer for the Bearcats (6-3, 4-0), with 109 yards and two scores on only six carries.

Goldthwaite fell to 1-8 overall and 0-4.

San Saba 41, Crawford 14 — San Saba remained unbeaten by blowing open a 14-7 game with a 27-7 second half.

After a scoreless first quarter, Crawford led briefly after a short TD run by Trey Lucina. San Saba (9-0, 4-0) countered with 34 straight points to set up a winner-take-all district title game with De Leon next Friday.

Crawford’s 14 points matched the highest point total allowed in a game by San Saba’s vaunted defense this season. The Pirates will go into their regular season finale at Hico at 4-5 and 2-2.

Valley Mills 24, Hico 15 — Valley Mills’ win over Hico had a double-significance, giving the Eagles their first district win of the year and putting them in excellent position to snag the No. 4 seed at the same time.

The Eagles (4-5, 1-3) can lock up a playoff berth with a win at Goldthwaite next Friday, barring a Hico upset of Crawford. In that scenario, it will come down to a three-way tiebreaker for the third and fourth spots.
