District 7-2A Division I: Week 8 Report

De Leon 42, Valley Mills 21 — Kevin Yeager accounted for 341 yards in total offense and four scores to lead the Bearcats to an important district win on the road. 

Chris Cox had a big night as well, hauling in six catches for 163 yards and three touchdowns as De Leon improved to 4-3 and 2-0. 

It doesn’t get any easier for Valley Mills, which will travel to San Saba on Oct. 26.

San Saba 55, Hico 14 — There is speculation by some that this might be the best San Saba team in 30 years and the Armadillos continue to strengthen that argument. 

Friday’s win over Hico saw the Armadillos allow a season-high 14 points while improving to 7-0 and 2-0. To date, they haven’t won by fewer than 34.

Hico slipped to 2-5 and 0-2.

Crawford 46, Goldthwaite 6 — Crawford (4-3, 2-0) piled up 471 yards in total offense, including 372 rushing yards to stay unbeaten in district. 

Goldthwaite was limited to 169 yards in total offense while slipping to 1-6 and 0-2.

The Eagles have lost five straight since a 13-10 win over Junction on Sept. 7.
