Brownwood 34, Gatesville 14 —Tommy Bowden rushed for 154 yards, threw for 155 and accounted for four scores in a vital win for the Lions (4-2, 1-0).  

Brownwood built a comfortable 27-7 halftime lead before coasting to the finish line. The Lions now have a likely playoff spot in the five-team district race (unless a three-way tie develops), but can lock up a postseason berth with one more win.
