First-year Baird football coach Joel Baker knew that if he was to erase last year’s 1-9 finish and create the sort of program he wanted, he needed to find a cornerstone to build around.
He quickly found it in senior Jax Bellar.
A fourth-year varsity player at BHS who doubles as a sturdy running back and linebacker, Bellar has now helped the Bears to a 2-1 start by leading them in rushing (45-437, 6 TDs) and lending a hand as one of the area’s sturdiest tacklers.
