WINTERS — If things had gone according to plan last year, the Winters Blizzards would have been known as a triple-option team out of its base flexbone offense.
There was just one problem: Winters’ skill personnel was better-suited for a power approach, so that’s what head coach Matt McCarty eventually settled on. Blessed with one of the top 2A offensive lines in the Big Country, the Blizzards remained in their flexbone sets and bulldozed their way to a 5-6 record and a trip to the playoffs.
With the arrival of 2018, however, a notable change is taking place.
