Abilene High 37, Lubbock Monterey 7 — The Eagles opened league play with a blowout win, limiting the Plainsmen to 155 yards of total offense in a game that was well in hand by halftime.
Despite leaving some points on the field on the board in the opening quarter, AHS (2-3, 1-0) led 23-0 at the break and added two more touchdowns to their lead in the fourth quarter before Monterey (0-5, 0-1) finally got on the board with 1:32 remaining in the game.
