ROSCOE — After several rings, a normally jovial Jake Freeman picked up his phone and answered with a monotoned “hello.” The 10th-year Roscoe coach was not in a good mood — a fact that he pointed out less than 15 seconds into Thursday’s conversation with BigCountryPreps.com.
Freeman had, at this point of the week, expected to be in his final stages of preparation for a Friday game with Midland TLCA. He was, instead, desperately trying to find a game for the Plowboys on short notice after receiving a Wednesday call from his scheduled opponent informing him that TLCA would not be playing.
Freeman remembered the call’s arrival to the very minute — 11:33 a.m.
