After pushing through a tough three-year rebuilding stretch to post a winning record in 2020, the Coleman Bluecats broke out in a major way last season, winning 11 games on their way to the Region I-2A Division I semifinals.
With 15 lettermen back from that team, including seven offensive and eight defensive starters, coach John Elder’s squad will be looking to build on that success this fall.
Returning a number of their biggest playmakers from last year’s team, which outscored its opponents by a combined score of 492-72, the Bluecats will enter the 2022 campaign in a position they haven’t been in in years — ranked in the top 10 in their class (No. 9) and considered one of the favorites in their region (Region II-2A DII). While there’s a weight that comes with those expectations, it’s far outweighed in Coleman by the excitement to get the season underway.
