The Wylie baseball team took advantage of some shaky Cooper defense to build a 5-1 lead and held off a late Cougar rally for a 5-4 win Friday evening at Bulldog Field.
The Bulldogs, who outhit Cooper 10-5, seemed to be in firm control for most of the ballgame. But the Coogs scored two sixth-inning runs to trim the deficit to 5-3 and had the tying man on second when Wylie reliever Cooper Hrbacek induced a fielder’s choice ground ball for the final out of the game.
