DISTRICT 2-5A DI WEEK 1 REPORT: Abilene High falls at Central as part of 4-4 week for district

San Angelo Central 28, Abilene High 23 — A slow start proved too much to overcome as the Eagles’ attempt to rally out of a 21-3 third-quarter hole came up just short in a hard-fought loss to the Bobcats.

AHS, which got two touchdown passes and a scoring run from quarterback Tristan Beal, outscored Central 20-14 in the second half, but a 14-3 halftime deficit, which grew to 18 points after a blocked punt was returned for a touchdown, was too big a gap to close.
