GAME REPORT: Live Oak tops Abilene Christian 47-38 in title game to end Lady Panthers’ dream run

ROBINSON — The Abilene Christian girls basketball team saw its unlikely run to the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class 3A state championship game end with a hard-fought loss to top-ranked Waco Live Oak Classical, falling 47-38 in the title tilt at Waco Robinson High School.

A slow start put the Lady Panthers in an early hole they could never climb out of, but the game remained competitive into the final final period.

ACS, which defeated No. 3 McKinney Cornerstone Christian (35-32), No. 5 Fort Worth Covenant Classical (34-30 in overtime) and No. 2  Fellowship Academy of Kennedale (38-31) on its way to the title game, trailed just 40-34 heading into the fourth quarter, but coach Laura Lange’s squad could never quite get over the hump in closing its season at 17-16.
