DISTRICT 2-5A DI WEEK 2 REPORT: Abilene High, Tascosa gut out wins as league struggles to 2-6 record

Abilene High 14, Cooper 6 — Tristan Beal hit John Rangel with a pair of touchdown passes, and that was all the offense the Eagles needed to claim their fifth straight Crosstown Showdown win thanks to an opportunistic performance by the AHS defense.

Cooper outgained Abilene High 338-226, but the Eagles came up with a big turnover on downs in their own territory in the first half and forced and recovered a pair of fumbles in the second to make a 14-0 third-quarter lead hold up.
