It’s never easy being a coach when your team is in the postseason and you’re having to work to scout opponents, set up potential playoff sites (for a game that may not even happen), come to an agreement on which chapter of officials to use while worrying about the X’s and O’s on the court.
While bigger schools tend to have a staff of 3-4 coaches that ease the pressure felt, at the Class 1A level, it’s often just the head coach and a single assistant that have to juggle everything — including travel and lodging.
That’s where Jayton-Girard ISD is bucking the trend with the coaching staffs of the boys and girls basketball teams.
