AHS (2-0) held a two-score lead on three different occasions, but each time Cooper (0-2) rallied to pull back within striking distance. The last saw the Cougars trim the deficit to 35-33 with a chance to tie the game at the 7:08 mark of the fourth quarter, but CHS couldn’t complete the two-point conversion and the Eagles sealed the win with an Etan Joyner touchdown a minute later.
In addition to Henry’s big game, AHS got 63 yards and a TD rushing from Joyner and 106 yards and a TD receiving from Ryland Bradford. Cooper, meanwhile, was led by quarterback Austin Cummins, who passed for 183 yards and three touchdowns before leaving the game with an apparent injury in the fourth quarter, and Zavian Alexander, who caught six passes for 98 yards and two TDs.
