GAME STORY: Red all-stars hold off Blue rally to win spirited FCA men’s basketball game

BROWNWOOD — Led by recent San Angelo TLCA grad Drew Sherrill, who had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds to go with three assists and a steal, the Red team held off a furious second-half rally to down the Blue 69-64 on Saturday in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes men’s basketball all-star game.

Sherrill, the game’s MVP, helped the Red team build a game-high 15-point lead early in the second half, before the Blue squad rallied to tie the game late. But with the help of Merkel’s Kooper Darby and Knox City’s Devin Guillory, who added 11 and 10 points, respectively, the Red was able to pull away in the closing minutes for the win.

With the game departing from its traditional North-South setup in favor of a player draft format, the rosters separated teammates and united rivals. But in the end, it was a positive experience for all involved.
