GAME STORY: Goldthwaite’s Hermesmeyer joins mom, teammates to lead Red to win in FCA all-star game

BROWNWOOD — After completing a decorated high school career at Goldthwaite that saw her lead the Lady Eagles to their first state tournament appearance since 2000 this winter, Hope Hermesmeyer didn’t need a big performance at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes women’s basketball all-star game to solidify her legacy as one of the top Big Country girls basketball players in recent memory.

But that didn’t keep her from having one anyway.

The recent GHS graduate scored a game-high 13 points Saturday to lead the Red team to a 57-51 win over the Blue, earning MVP honors a day after winning the girls 3-point shooting competition. And if that wasn’t enough, she got to accomplish all this while sharing the bench one last time with her mother Angie Hermesmeyer and former teammates Abbey Patrick and Lainey Jernigan, which only made the experience sweeter.
