With their playoff hopes hanging by a thread following a lopsided 79-46 home loss to archrival Abilene High on Friday, the Cooper Lady Cougars entered Friday’s Southtown Showdown at Wylie needing a spark in the worst possible way.
Trailing 24-16 in the second quarter, they got it from do-it-all power forward J’Lee Sloan.
The talented senior scored 15 of her game-high 36 points in that second period to keep her team within striking distance at halftime, before sparking a 24-8 run through the third quarter to propel Cooper to a 66-60 upset of Wylie at Bulldog Gym.
