LUBBOCK — The Brownwood Lions clinched at least a share of the District 2-4A Division I championship Thursday at Lowrey Field, riding a big rushing performance from quarterback Ike Hall and a dominant defensive effort to a 35-14 win over Lubbock Estacado.
Hall ran for 176 yards and four of the Lions’ five touchdowns, while the BHS defense limited a talented Matadors offense to just 64 total yards and three first downs in a thorough victory.
The win improved the Lions to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in league play, putting coach Sammy Burnett’s squad in position to clinch the title outright next week when it closes out the regular season with a home game against Andrews.
