Football is just around the corner, and we at BigCountryPreps.com are committed to bringing you the information you need to prepare for your favorite team’s season.
We’ll be releasing our Big Country Preps Preseason Football Preview, the most comprehensive look at the upcoming Big Country football season anywhere, on Wednesday, Aug. 16. But you won’t have to wait until then to sate your gridiron appetite.
Leading up to the first day of fall football practice on July 31, we’ll be spotlighting each 11-man team in the area and posing some of the key questions they’ll face in 2023 as part of our annual “Countdown to Two-a-Days” series.
We continue in Class 2A Division I with the Cisco Loboes. On Saturday we will take a look at the Colorado City Wolves followed by the Hawley Bearcats on Sunday.
CISCO LOBOES
LAST YEAR’S RECORD
- 11-3 overall, 5-1 in District 4-2A Division I
ONE KEY STAT
- Cisco has posted 15 double digit-win seasons since 2002, finishing with fewer than nine wins in just twice over that span.
TWO NAMES TO KNOW
- Junior WR/DB Julius Proffitt (Had 80 tackles and 2 interceptions in 2022)
- Senior QB Kanon Orsagh (Rushed for 104 yards and 1 touchdowns and received for 163 yards and 1 TD in 2022)
THREE BURNING QUESTIONS
- With just 10 of 26 lettermen back from last year’s team, including three starters on both sides of the ball, will the Loboes be reloading or rebuilding in 2022?
- With limited size on the lines, can the Cisco get a consistent push up front?
- Who will step up to replace the production lost with the graduation of standout quarterback Hunter Long and running back Trent Huston?
