MERKEL â The Westbrook girls basketball team learned an important lesson Tuesday night at Badger Gymnasium: a return trip to the UIL state tournament is not going to be easy.
The Lady Cats had to fight and claw their way to a 37-30 win over Cross Plains in a Region II-1A bi-district playoff to start the defense of their region title.
Westbrook coach Jeff Bontranger was proud of the way his team battled in a game that was tightly contested on defense.
