Elijah Salas added 71 yards rushing and a score to help Merkel improve to 3-2.
Coahoma (2-3) was led by Billy Bailey, who threw for 118 yards and two scores. Isaiah Eleda added 12 carries for 79 yards and another score.
At this point, the only teams to beat Merkel (Early and Hawley) are both still unbeaten at 5-0.
Bruising running back Mosiah Lolohea added 88 yards and another TD on only 13 carries to send the Lions into their pre-district bye week on an up note.
Lance Taylor led San Saba (0-5), hitting 19 of 32 throws for 219 yards and a score. The Armadillos kept themselves competitive via interceptions from Drake Bryant, Wes Lackey and Adan Huron.
Hunter Long rushed for 239 yards and three scores to lead Cisco (4-1), which piled up 460 yards in total offense (405 on the ground).
Comanche (0-5), which finished with 192 total yards, was led by Kyler Beaty, who caught four passes for 79 yards and a pair of scores.
Case Procter led Santo (5-0) with 115 yards rushing and two scores to go with 80 yards passing. Sam Henderson added 125 yards and two more scores on 13 carries.
Millsap hurt Santo with 395 passing yards, but hurt itself with two interceptions.
A year ago, these two met in Vernon. But with Vernon having a home game this year, a new site had to be found.

Eastland (idle) — The Mavericks (1-3) enjoyed an off night on Friday.
But Eastland will see action again before the onset of district play when they travel to Sweetwater (2-3) on Oct. 1.
