FEATURE: Stamford’s Gutierrez as dominant as expected

The loud popping sound of the catcher’s mitt alone is enough to tell the uninitiated that Stamford pitcher Citlaly Gutierrez is a cut above the norm.

After that, a quick peek at her bio tells you what you may have already suspected. 

At the age of 16, Gutierrez is now throwing in the 65-mph range (Division I college velocity). She’s already struck out 750 batters in her career (despite last year’s COVID lockdown) and she’s already committed to the University of Texas as a junior.
