Lombard, who resigned last spring to join the staff of his father (legendary girls coach Joe Lombard) in Canyon, charted more than 200 wins and two Class 3A state titles during his tenure at Wall.
That left Richardson with one of the toughest acts to follow in all of Texas high school girls basketball.
Richardson, however, who had coached at Class 3A Canadian for 18 seasons prior to coming to WHS, was comfortable with it all. So comfortable, in fact, that he didn’t hesitate to introduce a new system at a place that had known nothing but success for decades.
