Hamlin 51, Haskell 7 — Jevon Williams rushed for four touchdowns and added a fifth score receiving to lead the Pied Pipers to a blowout win over Haskell on Friday.
Hamlin, which also got two passing TDs from Braydin Warner and a rushing and receiving score from A.J. Ramirez, led 34-0 at halftime and scored the first 17 points of the second half, before the Indians finally got on the board on a long scoring run by Jacari Holland.
The win improves the Pipers to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in District 7-2A DII play heading into their bye week next week. Haskell, which fell to 2-6 and 0-2 with its fifth consecutive loss, will try to get the ship righted next week at Roscoe.
Albany 49, Roscoe 0 — Ben West passed for 130 yards and two touchdowns and Jaheim Newton rushed for 128 yards and two scores to fuel the Lions to their second shutout win in three weeks.
Leading 14-0 after a quarter, Albany (5-2, 2-0) put the game out of reach with a 28-0 run through the second period. In addition to the production the Lions got from West and Newton, coach Denney Faith got rushing touchdowns from B.J. Morris and Robert Bailey and two receiving scores from Cade Neve.
AHS will try to remain unbeaten in district play next week when it travels to Cross Plains for a key district game, while Roscoe (1-6, 0-2) will try for its first district win at home against Haskell.
A victory in that game would keep Cross Plains firmly in the district title hunt, while a loss would force the Buffs to beat Hamlin on Nov. 1 to have any shot at the championship.
