Sitting at 2-5 overall and 1-2 in District 3-6A with three tough games remaining, Abilene High’s road to the playoffs is a treacherous one.
The Eagles close the regular season with Haltom City Haltom (3-3, 1-1), Weatherford (5-1, 1-1) and Euless Trinity (6-1, 2-1), and likely need a 2-1 finish to punch their ticket to the postseason.
If you think that’s a tall task, you’re not alone. The Eagles understand the challenge ahead of them. But don’t expect first year AHS head coach Mike Fullen or the 41 seniors on his roster to cede anything to anyone.
The Eagles’ goals remain the same as they’ve always been — to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. And a group of seniors that has seen the last two seasons end gut-wrenchingly close to the postseason is determined to earn an 11th game this year.
