The Abilene High Eagles only managed one run and two hits Tuesday night in their District 3-6A opener against North Richland Hills Richland. But with the way ace Ryan Johnson was throwing, that was enough offense to open league play with a victory.
Johnson, a senior right-hander, pitched a one-hit shutout at Abilene Christian University’s Crutcher Scott Field to carry AHS to a 1-0 win over the Rebels — the Eagles’ ninth straight victory overall.
