The Wylie Bulldogs overcame a slow start and a three-point halftime deficit to defeat Cooper 43-38 on Tuesday at Bulldog Gym, completing a season sweep of the Cougars and clinching the No. 2 playoff seed in District 4-5A.
Wylie needed an Austin Brewer jumper at the first-quarter buzzer to trim Cooper’s lead to 13-8 and saw a Deven Bailey 3-pointer right before halftime send them to the locker room down 25-22.
But the Bulldogs used a 14-7 run through the third quarter to grab the lead and held off a Cougar rally in the fourth to earn a hard-fought victory.
